Arsenal and United looking to table bid for
Ozil
Meanwhile, Manchester United could be scheming
under the hood, to put forth an impressive €45m
offer for Real Madrid midfielder Mesut Ozil. The
German International is yet to extend his contract
with Los Blancos, wages being a major stumbling
block, and Spanish daily AS reports that the Red
Devils are keen to make the most out of the
current scenario by making a move for the player.
The Telegraph meanwhile suggests that a similar
plan is afoot at the Emirates, with Arsenal also
keen on signing the young German. It helps both
clubs that Ozil stormed off into the tunnel after
being subbed in Real's win against Granada
yesterday.
Mourinho issues 48 hour Rooney ultimatum
Following the game against Manchester United
yesterday, Chelsea Manager Jose Mourinho asked
Wayne Rooney to make up his mind whether he
wants to leave Old Trafford once and for all, so
that all parties know where they stand heading
into the last week of the summer transfer window.
Mourinho told Sky Sports, "For the good of
everyone it is time to finish the story. One way or
another he has to say 'I want to leave' or 'I want
to stay'."
Mourinho also declares no Mata sale
Juan Mata failed to get onto the pitch yesterday
for Chelsea's big game at Manchester United, but
Jose Mourinho continued to maintain that the
player is not for sale. The Chelsea boss told the
BBC after the game, "He is very important to
Chelsea and the stories coming out are nonsense.
No chance - Juan goes nowhere."
Eto’o moves closer to transfer
Anzhi Makhachkala ace Samuel Eto’o is on the
verge of an exit, after reports in Izvestia suggest
that the Cameroonian bid his teammates and club
officials goodbye, following what could be his last
training session with the club. The news,
meanwhile, has alerted sides like Chelsea,
Manchester United and Real Madrid, who have

Spurs entertaining another offer for Bale?
Tottenham Hotspur have received an offer from
another club too for Welsh star Gareth Bale, in
addition to Real Madrid’s world record £86m bid,
according to reports in the BBC. The North
Londoners are yet to reach upon an agreement
with Los Blancos over the player's sale and the
new offer, which is speculated to have come from
potential suitors Manchester United, seems to
have endangered Real’s prospects. The Daily
Telegraph adds that Bale has returned from Spain
and will now go back to work at Tottenham this
week!
Real get serious about Suarez
The Daily Mirror reports that Real Madrid have
been disappointed with their start to the new
season, and could be plotting a massive clear out,
getting rid of Karim Benzema, Mesut Ozil and
Angel Di Maria, and will use the proceeds from the
sale to fund Bale's acquisition and that of
Liverpool's Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez.
Everyone wants Mangala
FC Porto's young French center back Eliaquim
Mangala apparently has a lot of watchful eyes at
his games these weeks, with Marca reporting that
Barcelona and Manchester United are both
tracking the 22 year old defender. With the former
more desperate for defensive reinforcements, a
late bid cannot be ruled out. The Daily Mirror
though believes that Chelsea are also in the
running.

No bids for Mata, from Tottenham – Chelsea
Chelsea are standing ground on their decision to
not part with playmaker Juan Mata, with reports in
The Telegraph suggesting that the Blues have
denied receiving any inquiry for the player from
Tottenham Hotspur. The North Londoners are the
latest club to have been linked with the Spaniard,
with Manchester United already reported to be hot
contenders for his signature.
Liverpool reported interested in Moses, but
Rodgers refuses to give anything away
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has refused to
divulge information about the Reds’ intent in
making a move for Chelsea’s Victor Moses,
despite reports of the Merseysiders being
interested in taking him on loan for the season.
Rodgers was quoted in The Metro, saying: “We
have got targets. There is speculation around
many names and while the window is open we will
continue to look to improve the squad.”
Borini to stay at Anfield
Liverpool forward Fabio Borini would continue to
ply his trade at the club, despite rumours of a
potential loan move being on the cards for the
Italian, according to manager Brendan Rodgers.
The boss was quoted in Goal.com, saying: “Not at
this moment in time. There would be a queue of
clubs wanting to take him if he was available. We
want to keep a strong group – it’s a very long
season for us.”
Wenger coy on transfer targets
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has maintained
ambiguity on his transfer agenda, for the
forthcoming crucial transfer week, with vehement
activity expected from his end. The Frenchman
was quoted by ESPN, saying: “I will not give you
any names -- it would make wrong hopes. We
have to be discreet. But we work very hard on it.
There's no fixed date on transfers. We don't have
a fixed number we want.”
United to bid £20m for Fellaini
Manchester United are all set to test the one at a
time approach in their attempt to bring in some
top talent from David Moyes' previous club
Everton with the Daily Telegraph reporting that
the Red Devils are plotting a £20m bid for
midfielder Marouane Fellaini, and are keen to
bring the 25 year old on board ahead of next
weekend's game against Liverpool. The Daily
Mirror adds that United are ready to up that offer
to £25m!
Mancini’s stay would have endangered that
of Joe Hart
Manchester City fans might have had to bid
shotstopper Joe Hart goodbye, had ex-manager
Roberto Mancini remained at the club, according
to former City assistant David Platt. Speaking to
Qatar broadcaster, Al Jazeera, Platt said: "If
Mancini and I were still at Man City this year, Joe
Hart wouldn't be there, we made a decision to
sign Asmir Begovic."
Lamela poised to complete Spurs move
The Daily Star report that Roma striker Erik
Lamela will be a Tottenham player within the next
24 hours, and that should kick off a striker
clearance sale at the club too with Jermain Defoe
and Emmanuel Adebayor both expected to find
themselves on the chopping block.
Cabaye wants Arsenal move
Newcastle United midfielder Yohan Cabaye
apparently has his heart set on a move to Arsenal
this summer according to reports in Chronicle
Live. The newspaper believes that Paris St.
Germain have failed to make their interest in the
player concrete leaving Arsenal as his only suitors
and now it is up to the Gunners to table an
acceptable offer to seal the deal.
Newcastle plot McCarthy swoop
Newcastle are hoping to replace Cabaye with
young Wigan midfielder James McCarthy, himself
a former Arsenal target. The Magpies will table an
£8 million offer for the youngster according to
reports in the Daily Mail, but might face
competition from Everton, who himself want the
player as a possible replacement for Fellaini.
