Seedings for the Champions League draw

Following the completion of the Champions
League qualifying rounds, Arsenal, Chelsea,
Manchester United and Manchester City will all
learn their group stage opponents today.
United qualify as Premier League champions,
whilst City and Chelsea claimed runner-up spots.
And following a 5-0 aggregate win over
Fenerbahce, Arsenal will join last season’s top
three in the draw for the group stage.
Elsewhere, Celtic completed a nervy 3-2
aggregate defeat of Shakhter Karagandy last
night.
The seedlings have been decided and are listed
below. Each group will consist of one team from
each pot.
City find themselves in a similar predicament to
last season, as they may find themselves in the
‘group of death’.
Last year they had Real Madrid, Ajax and eventual
runners-up Borussia Dortmund in their group and
this year, although they will not be drawn with an
other English club, they could face a number of
big names, including the Spanish, Italian and
French champions.
