Gareth Bale's €100 million transfer from Tottenham Hotspur to Real Madrid this summer nearly collapsed, Bale's agent Jonathan Barnett reveals.
The Santiago Bernabeu side eventually completed the long, drawn out saga of the world record signing in the closing stages of the transfer window, but Bale's agent has claimed there were a number of moments where it seemed the deal would not go ahead.
"The deal never fell apart in the end but it came close on several occasions," Barnett told La Sexta.

"It wasn't all peace and love in the meetings. Negotiations were tough and problematic.

"Tottenham made us a great offer to stay and there was another club that offered much more than Real Madrid."

Bale's representative then went on to say that he feels his client is a better player than Barcelona star Neymar.

He added: "Bale has played in the Premier League and has won a lot of trophies. For me, he's better than Neymar."

The winger, 24, has made two appearances for Madrid since his summer move, scoring on his debut against Villarreal.
