Gombe State Police Command says it has arrested three men suspected of having carnal knowledge of two boys and a girl. The incidents happened at different times, the command's Police Public Relations

Officer (PPRO), Fwaje Atajiri, said in Gombe on Monday.   According to Atajiri, the first incident occurred at Dubai bypass area on September 15 when a 25-year-old lured a seven-year-old boy to an uncompleted building, threatened him with a knife and raped him. However, an old man who witnessed the incident reported the matter to the police, leading immediately to his arrest. The police spokesman said the suspect confessed to committing the offence.

The second suspect was arrested at a building site in Cham village of Balanga Local Government after raping a 12-year-old boy. The spokesman revealed that the police had also apprehended another person, who goes by the alias Popo, for allegedly raping a three-year-old girl. He said the cries of the baby alerted her mother, who rushed to the scene and caught the suspect red-handed. Atajiri said Popo tried to escape but neighbours helped to arrest and lock him up in a room until the police arrived. The police spokesman also disclosed that three robbery suspects were arrested by residents in Bambam town of Balanga Local Government, after attempting to rob one Hamma Cham. Atajiri said all the suspects would be arraigned in court as soon as investigations were concluded.
