Housewife Jailed for Stealing from Husband in Abuja

A housewife, Husseina Danhadejia, from Yimi village, Abuja, has been sentenced to three months in jail for stealing from husband and selling his property.
The decision has been announced by Zuba Grade 1 Area Court on August 16, 2013, Friday.
Malam Alhassan Kusherki, the presiding judge, has read the sentence after Danhadejia had pleaded guilty to the one count charge of theft.
The judge, however, gave the convict an option to pay N15,000 fine.
Danhadejia was charged with stealing a mattress, a bag of rice, two DVD players and a bed sheet.
Cpl. Momoh Ibrahim, the Prosecutor, had told the court that one Abubakar of Yimi village Zuba, Abuja reported the matter at the Zuba Market Police Outpost on April 4.
“The complainant returned from work and discovered that his wife had stolen his property.
“They included a bag of rice valued N12,000, one mattress worth N20,000, a bed sheet and two DVD players valued N6,000.”
He said during police investigation, the convict admitted committing the crime.
“She sold some of the stolen items to Binta Isa of the same address.”
