The Lagos State Police  Command has arrested one  26-year-old pregnant Onyiyechi who allegedly stabbed her husband to death during a quarrel over who would emerge winner between the Peoples Democratic Party and All Progressives Congress, APC presidential candidates, while voting was on-going , weekend, at Ejigbo area of the state.<br />
<br />
According to Vanguard, the incident which threw the neighbours into a mayhem, happened inside the couple's one room apartment at 82 Military zone junction at about 12 noon.<br />
While some said that the couple had conflicting opinion on their choice of presidential candidates, others said the wife disobeyed the husband.<br />
<br />
 It was gathered that husband was said to have decided to vote for the PDP,while the  wife, schose to vote for the presidential candidate of the APC.<br />
An argument ensued and in the process,  Onyiyechi allegedly stabbed her husband with a kitchen knife in the chest region.<br />
<br />
Other version of the report said the deceased, told his pregnant wife to take the okro she was grating inside the room, to the veranda which also served as kitchen , an instruction she reportedly disobeyed, following which an argument which led to a fight occurred.<br />
<br />
Their neighbours of the couple described the suspect as an amicable person who had never quarreled with anyone since she moved into the building.<br />
<br />
One of the neighbours said that, “ We were all outside waiting to vote when Onyiyechi rushed out, shouting for help. Out of curiosity, we all ran inside, only to discover blood all over the ground, on entering their apartment.<br />
On closer observation, we noticed that the blood was from her husband chest region. We met him on the ground. Before we could rush him to the hospital, he gave up the ghost.<br />
Perhaps, he would have survived the attack had Onyiyechi called for help early. From all indication, it was clear that she attempted to manage the situation immediately the incident occurred. It was when she discovered that the situation had overwhelmed her that she raised alarm.<br />
<br />
I do not know the name of her husband. We only know that of his wife, who we fondly call Onyiyechi.<br />
She has never beaten a little child, let alone to fight with any neighbor.<br />
<br />
Again on that day, we saw both of them together. They were seen sitting outside, one hour before the incident occurred. Policemen from Ejigbo later came to remove the corpse to the Isolo morgue”.<br />

There is palpable tension in the polity as the suits seeking the disqualification of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Muhammadu Buhari, in the March 28 election come up for hearing at the Federal High Court, Abuja, on Tuesday.<br />
<br />
There are no fewer than 10 suits seeking Mr. Buhari’s disqualification from the race on different grounds. All have now been consolidated for a hearing since they are all seeking the same relief.<br />
<br />
<br />
Justice Adeniyi Ademola had on March 19 adjourned hearing on the suit to March 24.<br />
<br />
In one of the suits, Chukwunweike Okafor is seeking an order compelling the Independent National Electoral Commission to remove or delete Mr. Buhari’s name and that of the APC from the list of persons and political parties eligible for the office of President.<br />
<br />
In the suit, Mr. Buhari, the APC and INEC were listed as first, second and third defendants, respectively.<br />
<br />
Mr. Okafor asked the court to hold that the information supplied by the APC flag-bearer in Form C.F 001 that his West African School Certificate was with the Nigerian Army was false and should be disqualified from the race.<br />
<br />
In another suit, Max Ozoaka asked the court to disqualify Mr. Buhari on the ground that the INEC Form Cf 001 the APC candidate submitted to INEC was incomplete.<br />
<br />
He contended that Mr. Buhari failed to accompany the form with all relevant academic credentials.<br />

Gov. Aliyu Babangida of Niger said on Thursday that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would win the general elections in spite of increased propaganda from opposition parties.</div>

Director of Media and Publicity for the People’s Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Organisation (PDPPCO), Femi Fani-Kayode, is still in shock. In a statement released on the matter, he described Obasanjo’s tearing of the PDP party card as painful and tragic. He also likened the action to biblical times, when King Saul rejected David.<br />

Here is the statement, as reported by Punch:<br />

Watching our party membership card being torn up whilst President Obasanjo was standing there and smiling was painful and tragic.<br />
<br />
This is a party which he helped to build and on whose platform he was elected President for eight good years.<br />
<br />
The truth is that President Obasanjo is far better and far bigger than that. Such behavior is provocative and unacceptable.<br />
<br />
He is free to leave the party but does he have to spit in our faces by tearing up our party card in public and before the television cameras?<br />
<br />
This knee-jerk reaction is most unlike President Obasanjo and it is very insulting. It is clear that he has burnt all the bridges and that he has left us forever.<br />
<br />
On a personal note, I feel saddened by this but the truth is that many in our party members have heaved a huge sigh of relief. Many of us love President Obasanjo and we shall continue to do so regardless of whether he is in our party or not but tearing up that party card was too much to bear.<br />
<br />
It spoke volumes and it was indicative of the deep hatred and contempt that he has for us and our cause.<br />
<br />
It reminded me of the biblical passage in which King Saul rejected David and then planned to stop him from ascending to the throne by attempting to kill and destroy him.<br />
<br />
Thankfully, the Lord was with David and not only did he deliver him from Saul, but he also crowned him King.<br />

The PDP presidential campaign office says the documents released by the Government College Katsina as the results of the APC presidential candidate Buhari, are forged, manipulated and fraudulently procured.<br />
The Director of Media for the Campaign Organization, Femi Fani-Kayode, said that instead of providing conclusive proof that he possesses the required qualification, he has only stumbled into a new phase in the matter.<br />
Using an enlarged printout of the documents, the Director of Media showed what he said were clear indications of alterations and cancellations that questions the authenticity of the documents.<br />
<br />
He said that the police and other security agencies should seek out the authors and masterminds of the forgery and prosecute them in accordance with the law.<br />

ABUJA – PRESIDENTIAL Campaign Organisation, PCO, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP,  has accused the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, General Muhammadu Buhari, rtd of committing perjury, alleging that he (Buhari) lied on oath.<br />
<br />
Addressing Journalists, the Director of Media and Publicity of the campaign Organisation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode asked Buhari, to as a matter of urgency,  throw in the towel by withdrawing from the  presidential race.<br />
<br />
The PDP campaign Organisation spokesperson  also urged him to report to the nearest police station, adding that the Armed Forces must strip him of his ranks and privileges, stressed that with the papers on ground, General Buhari who rose to the rank of a Major-General and  became a head of state, was never qualified to enlist in the Nigerian army as a commissioned Officer, adding that if he fails to report to the Police, the PDP would then hand him over to God.<br />
<br />
Femi Fani-Kayode, whose speech was titled, ” And Buhari lies on Oath, said, “Information reaching us now has shown that the presidential candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC), General Muhammadu Buhari has disclosed today in Kano at a press conference that the affidavit he swore to, in which he claimed that his credentials were in the custody of the military was not true after all.<br />
<br />
Recall that Buhari, at another press briefing Wednesday said; “I had assumed all along that all my records were in the custody of the Military Secretary of the Nigerian Army. Much to my surprise, we are now told that although a record of the result is available, there are no copies of the certificates in my personal file. This is why I formally requested my old school the Provincial Secondary School, Katsina (which is now known as Government College, Katsina) to make available the school’s copy of the result of the Cambridge/West African School Certificate. This will be made available to the press the moment this is available”.<br />
<br />
Fani-Kayode continued, “The implication of the action of this so-called “Mr Clean” is nothing but perjury and we all know that this is a grave criminal offence under our laws and constitution.<br />
<br />
“We urge Buhari and his party to do the right thing, tender an unreserved apology to the Nigerian people. He should throw in the towel and report to the nearest police station for interrogation and prosecution. Anything less than that would be an insult to the collective intelligence and integrity of the Nigerian people.”<br />

The Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Maj. General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has blatantly refuted widespread reports that he is suffering from a terminal illness.<br />
<br />
Speaking to journalists yesterday, Buhari said the report on his state of health was orchestrated by some individuals not only to gain undue political advantage but to divert public attention from corruption which had assumed the front burner of national discourse. He said:<br />
“There were reports that I was to jet out for medical check-up yesterday (Saturday) but here I am. I was in Nasarawa and Benue states yesterday (Saturday) and tomorrow, I will be in two states. The day after tomorrow (Tuesday), I will be in two more states. I sincerely don’t know how they got the impression that I was sick. I had a cold but it did not stop me from going through my schedule.”<br />
Buhari also stated that a medical document purportedly confirming his alleged poor state of health was fake.<br />
<br />
The Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital said the documents are forged. This desperation is beyond my comprehension. The issue we are letting Nigerians know is that there has been   much corruption in this country in the   last 16 years. The Peoples Democratic Party   has literally destroyed this country.”<br />
When asked to make a categorical statement on his health, Buhari jokingly asked the reporter, “How old are you, 50 years? I can tell you that if we go to the field, you will not stay as long as I would.”<br />
<br />
However, the PDP replied, and said that instead of denying the report, Buhari should prove to Nigerians that he is healthy enough to rule the country, by jogging round a stadium.<br />
<br />
At a news conference in Abuja by the Director of Media and Publicity of its Presidential Campaign Organisation Femi Fani-Kayode, the ruling party said the rumour that the former Head of State was suffering from prostrate cancer was worrisome.<br />
<br />
It said:<br />
“The rumour that he is suffering from prostrate cancer is exceptionally worrying and it is incumbent upon each and everyone of us to pray for him if this rumour is true.<br />
We are constrained to urge him to prove to the Nigerian people that he really is as fit as a fiddle, as the spokesman of his PCO has said, by taking a brisk walk or even jogging around the perimeter of the stadium before any of his rallies. If he can do that, it will go a long way to allay the fears of many.”<br />
Asked if the PDP was in possession of any medical report indicating that Buhari was suffering from any terminal ailment, Fani-Kayode said no.<br />

Outspoken Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Peter Ayodele Fayose has described the presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) as an“Islamist who is out to return power to the northerners and implement Islamic agenda.”<br />
<br />
The controversial governor  in a statement made available to Punch, also took a swipe at the APC for what he called a “campaign of hate.”<br />
<br />
He said the APC’s campaign strategy could trigger crisis in the Niger-Delta area of the country in the South-South, where President  Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) hails from.<br />

He said, “The APC as a party is saying that it will form parallel government if Buhari loses, implying that the party has admitted defeat and is ready to throw the country into chaos.<br />

<i>“The APC people are already telling Nigerians what will happen after the election if President Jonathan wins.</i><br />
<i><br /></i>
<i>“This campaign of hate from the APC has now triggered a kind of reasoning in the mindset of other stakeholders, especially the Niger-Delta people, who see the Goodluck Jonathan presidency as their turn, with the reality that, if Buhari wins, there will be crisis in the Niger-Delta, the area that produces the resources with which Nigeria is sustained.</i><br />
<i><br /></i>
<i>“If the Niger-Delta region erupts in crisis and the Igbos in the South-East return to the old antics and decide to secede, what happens to the North that can only contribute between three to five per cent to the economy of Nigeria?</i><br />
<i><br /></i>
<i>“Is it not a fact that Boko Haram is a Northern insurgency that is linked to the Northern elements, but now being used to blackmail President Goodluck Jonathan? Will it surprise anyone if the Niger-Delta people of the South-South and the Igbos in the South-East call the bluff of the North and secede?”</i><br />
<i><br /></i>
<i>He continued, “The reality is, if care is not taken, the end of the election might be secession or religious war, aside from the global economic crisis, which is a cold war on its own.”</i><br />
<br />
Fayose had last week, issued a serious warning to opposition parties in the country on behalf of President Jonathan.<br />
It will be recalled that the Ekiti Governor three days ago,  advised the North to wait till 2019 to produce the President.<br />

APC calls for arrest of Edo PDP chairman

<p>The call was made by the Edo State Chairman of the APC, Anselm Ojezua.</p>
<p>According to Ojezua, the arrest became necessary over their alleged sponsoring of arson through a faction of the Students’ Union Government (SUG) of the University
of Benin.</p>
<p>Ojezua, in a statement in Benin, said: “We are aware that the Chairman of the PDP, Mr Dan Orbih, and some leaders of the party sponsored a faction of the Students Union Government to commit arson by setting fire on a property belonging to the Edo State Government.</p>
<p>“We are also aware of the plan by Orbih and other leaders of the PDP to inject thugs into the ranks of the students of the university and unleash mayhem on unsuspecting members of the public and further commit heinous crimes all in the name of protest.</p>
<p>“We call on the Commissioner of Police, Edo State, to arrest and interrogate Orbih and other PDP leaders for sponsoring arson and stop their further plan to create mayhem in the state.</p>
<p>“It is sad that in the name of politics, Mr Orbih has resorted to crude tactics and is planning to unleash PDP thugs on hapless people of the state.</p>
<p>“We call on the Commissioner of Police to act fast, as the APC would not fold its arms and watch Dan Orbih and his thugs make the state ungovernable”, Ojezua declared.</p>
