Contrary to a statement accredited to him on CNN ,promising to tackle Boko Haram in two months,the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Organisation has described the media reports as misleading and unfounded..In a statement issued by Director of Media and Publicity of the APC Presidential Campaign Organisation, Garba Shehu, on Thursday, Shehu said Buhari never made such a promise.<br />
<br />
 “His Excellency, the President-elect is still waiting to be sworn in on May 29. After the ceremony, he would need time to study the security situation and plan strategically with the security chiefs as to the way forward. Time is of essence here.Therefore, President Buhari didn’t and wouldn’t peg the decimation of terrorism from the country’s territories to just two months.<br />
<br />
The General was unequivocal about cleansing Boko Haram from our land; he would do a good job of it by giving a final, permanent push to rid Nigeria of unscrupulous elements. “The President-elect said that much to the world media including the British Broadcasting Corporation and Cable News Network.He never put a time-frame to when he would eliminate terrorists. It would be unfair and mischievous for someone to ascribe to him what he hasn’t said.”<br />

The Lagos State Police  Command has arrested one  26-year-old pregnant Onyiyechi who allegedly stabbed her husband to death during a quarrel over who would emerge winner between the Peoples Democratic Party and All Progressives Congress, APC presidential candidates, while voting was on-going , weekend, at Ejigbo area of the state.<br />
<br />
According to Vanguard, the incident which threw the neighbours into a mayhem, happened inside the couple's one room apartment at 82 Military zone junction at about 12 noon.<br />
While some said that the couple had conflicting opinion on their choice of presidential candidates, others said the wife disobeyed the husband.<br />
<br />
 It was gathered that husband was said to have decided to vote for the PDP,while the  wife, schose to vote for the presidential candidate of the APC.<br />
An argument ensued and in the process,  Onyiyechi allegedly stabbed her husband with a kitchen knife in the chest region.<br />
<br />
Other version of the report said the deceased, told his pregnant wife to take the okro she was grating inside the room, to the veranda which also served as kitchen , an instruction she reportedly disobeyed, following which an argument which led to a fight occurred.<br />
<br />
Their neighbours of the couple described the suspect as an amicable person who had never quarreled with anyone since she moved into the building.<br />
<br />
One of the neighbours said that, “ We were all outside waiting to vote when Onyiyechi rushed out, shouting for help. Out of curiosity, we all ran inside, only to discover blood all over the ground, on entering their apartment.<br />
On closer observation, we noticed that the blood was from her husband chest region. We met him on the ground. Before we could rush him to the hospital, he gave up the ghost.<br />
Perhaps, he would have survived the attack had Onyiyechi called for help early. From all indication, it was clear that she attempted to manage the situation immediately the incident occurred. It was when she discovered that the situation had overwhelmed her that she raised alarm.<br />
<br />
I do not know the name of her husband. We only know that of his wife, who we fondly call Onyiyechi.<br />
She has never beaten a little child, let alone to fight with any neighbor.<br />
<br />
Again on that day, we saw both of them together. They were seen sitting outside, one hour before the incident occurred. Policemen from Ejigbo later came to remove the corpse to the Isolo morgue”.<br />

AD Presidential candidate steps down for Buhari

Barely 24 hours to the presidential elections,the presidential candidate of Alliance for Democracy, AD, Rafiu Salau announced he has stepped down for APC candidate. Gen. Mohammadu Buhari.<br />
Speaking at a press conference in Abuja on Thursday,he said<br />
“Don’t give any other party your mandate to stay in power for more than 16 years. You deserve another team of politicians with different manifestos and ideology to serve you.<br />

“As voters, don’t listen to those who based their campaign on tribe and religion. In politics, the difference is ideology. Religion or tribe has nothing to do with pure democracy. Those who see your vote by tribe or religious influence have no program to implement for the greatness of the country.<br />
“The democracy is yours. Control it so that no party will take it away from you. PDP has been in power for 16 years and It has tried its best.<br />
“No matter good the performance of PDP for the past 16 years, you need to vote for another party before you can know that you will always get a better performance when you create competition among the parties.<br />
<br />
“All of you, the 68 million voters should vote for General Buhari, the candidate of the democrats who will bring change. Vote APC. Show the world that you are in control of your democracy”, Salau said.<br />
In response ,the National Chairman of APC, Chief John Oyegun said..<br />
“By identifying with Buhari, it means that you must have to look at our programmes and our candidate and judge. You can see they are people-oriented. Our candidate is more qualified to lead the country.<br />

“I am asking people to judge the administration of President Jonathan whether they really deserve any support of any kind. The PDP government has failed in every aspect. The main business of government today is corruption”, Oyegun said.<br />

Patience Jonathan, Nigeria’s first lady, feels she would be jailed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) if Muhammadu Buhari, presidential candidate of the party, wins Saturday’s election.<br />

While speaking on Wednesday at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) women presidential campaign rally in Oyo state, the first lady said the APC and its presidential candidate jailed the fathers and mothers of the Oyo people.<br />

“I want to tell you the people of Oyo state, you don’t need to listen to APC. APC is a spare drug; they don’t have material to quantify PDP material,” she said.<br />
<br />
“You should know that they have been in government before; they were there before PDP, before Goodluck administration. If they come to Oyo, ask them, what do they have for you, not ‘I will, I will’. You were there; when you were there, what did you do for the people of Oyo state?<br />
<br />
“All what they did for you people when they were there was to send your fathers and your children to prison. That’s all what they have for you people, and I want you to remember. Some of you were still small by then when your fathers were sent to prison by this very APC people.”<br />

There is palpable tension in the polity as the suits seeking the disqualification of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Muhammadu Buhari, in the March 28 election come up for hearing at the Federal High Court, Abuja, on Tuesday.<br />
<br />
There are no fewer than 10 suits seeking Mr. Buhari’s disqualification from the race on different grounds. All have now been consolidated for a hearing since they are all seeking the same relief.<br />
<br />
<br />
Justice Adeniyi Ademola had on March 19 adjourned hearing on the suit to March 24.<br />
<br />
In one of the suits, Chukwunweike Okafor is seeking an order compelling the Independent National Electoral Commission to remove or delete Mr. Buhari’s name and that of the APC from the list of persons and political parties eligible for the office of President.<br />
<br />
In the suit, Mr. Buhari, the APC and INEC were listed as first, second and third defendants, respectively.<br />
<br />
Mr. Okafor asked the court to hold that the information supplied by the APC flag-bearer in Form C.F 001 that his West African School Certificate was with the Nigerian Army was false and should be disqualified from the race.<br />
<br />
In another suit, Max Ozoaka asked the court to disqualify Mr. Buhari on the ground that the INEC Form Cf 001 the APC candidate submitted to INEC was incomplete.<br />
<br />
He contended that Mr. Buhari failed to accompany the form with all relevant academic credentials.<br />
<br />

The All Progressives Congress has described yesterday’s visit by Nigeria’s first lady, Dame Patience Jonathan to the Ekiti state as a “<b>mere entertainment and comical show</b>”.<br />
<br />
The opposition party opined that Mrs. Jonathan only showcased her theatrics prowess instead of focusing on issue-based campaign to list her husband’s achievements in Ekiti in the last four years and outline what his plans for the state are if he wins.<br />
<br />
According to the The Nation, the party also advised the First Lady to take a cue from the wife of its presidential candidate, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, who the party said has shown class and panache in her campaign engagements, giving hope to Nigerians for a serious and purposeful leadership ‎that will take Nigeria back on track of development.<br />
<br />
In a statement on Tuesday by its Publicity Secretary, Taiwo Olatubosun, the party said the First Lady only came to Ekiti state to entertain the indigenes.<br />
<br />
He regretted that Mrs. Jonathan and host Governor Ayo Fayose treated Ekiti people and other Nigerians watching the event life on the television with comedy.<br />
<br />
According to him: “Throughout her speech, she manifested an image of a village masquerade providing a momentary comic relief to a poverty ravaged community not in a hurry for socio-economic salvation.<br />

“You would have thought that the First Lady would list her husband’s achievements in Ekiti State and then give the people some hope that her husband would build upon those achievements.<br />

“But she engaged in a duet with her host and soul mate, Governor Ayo Fayose, in an empty campaign comedy to a thoroughly dazed enlightened Ekiti people.<br />
<br />
“It was a perfect duet by two comedians that one does not need any counsel‎ that Nigeria must be rescued from the captivity of the costumed ‘people of power’ without responsibility.”<br />
<br />
He also condemned the frequent verbal attacks by the first lady on APC presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari.<br />
<br />
He said: “She was consistently painting Buhari as a man that would herd Nigerians into jail without committing any crime whereas Buhari only insisted that criminals during his coming administration would go to jail.<br />
<br />
“She said she was not ready to prepare food for Fayose in jail‎. Inadvertently, Mrs. Jonathan was telling Nigerians ‎that Fayose is a candidate for the prison if Buhari wins.”<br />
<br />
He stressed that Ekiti people had made up their minds to vote Buhari, because according to him, they had become wiser and would not vote a regime that did not hold any promise for their future.<br />
<br />
The first lady had said in the rally that she is not ready to carry food for her husband in prison.<br />
<br />
In a related development, popular catholic priest and founder of Adoration Ministry, Enugu Catholic Archdiocese, Rev. Fr Ejike Mbaka has gone to town with tales of how President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife are planning to assassinate him.<br />

Director of Media and Publicity of the Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Organisation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, has called on Nigerians to ask the All Progressives Congress leaders on how they acquired their private jets.<br />

Fani-Kayode, was reacting to an allegation by the Director of Media and Publicity of the APC Presidential Campaign Organisation, Mallam Garba Shehu, that the President Goodluck Jonathan administration was planning to use the Ministry of aviation to ground the jets belonging to senior members of the APC and frustrate the party’s campaign.<br />
<br />
He said it was interesting that APC had admitted, for the first time, that their leaders owned private jets.<br />
<br />
He said, “It is interesting that the APC has, for the very first time, admitted that some of its leaders own private jets.  It will be interesting to know from the APC how these leaders, who either occupied public offices or still occupy public offices, acquired these jets.<br />
<br />
“In fact, where did the money, with which they procured the jets, come from?<br />
<br />
“And this is the APC whose leaders pretend to occupy a moral high ground and accuse everyone else, except themselves, of malfeasance.<br />
<br />
“Once again, it is clear that the APC leaders have become prisoners of their own delusions and they are being held captive by their own hallucinations.  This is a clear case of extreme paranoia.<br />
<br />
“They are running under the bed when nobody is chasing them.  There are no plans to clamp down on anybody in the opposition.  Our only plan is to humiliate them before the Nigerian people on March 28 by giving them a crushing defeat.”<br />

Rivers state governor, Hon Rotimi Amaechi has blamed the wife of the Nigerian President, Dame Patience Jonathan for the attack on members and supporters of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Okrika, Rivers state, disrupting their campaign in Okrika Local Government area.<br />
                   “Clearly the wife of the president does not want APC to campaign in her home, Okrika,” Amaechi said.Amaechi spoke to journalists in Abuja after a meeting of APC leaders at the Shehu Yar’Adua centre in Abuja, Tuesday.<br />
                    The governor also condemned the act of violence and expressed disappointment over the law enforcement agents’ failure to ensure a hitch free campaign for the APC, despite having earlier assured the party of security and gave approval for the campaign to hold.<br />
“Again, as usual, the wife of the president won’t allow the APC hold rally in that place (Okrika). The wife of the president and the governorship candidate of Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP in Rivers again organized thugs to disrupt APC rally. As usual, the police couldn’t protect us, we are talking about over 200 policemen. I asked the commissioner of police and he said they have over 200 policemen there. Yet, three explosions and then they opened fire on members of APC. The Channels TV reporter I hear, is injured, stabbed, and members of APC injured.<br />
<br />
“We had meetings with DSS (Directorate of State Security) and police and they confirmed we could go ahead. There were 200 policemen and there were over 20 to 30 DSS men who came there and they did nothing,” Amaechi said.<br />
<br />
Asked if Rivers state is good for elections, he said, “you should ask the President that question. He can postpone national election”.<br />

Cambridge University provides more details on Buhari’s WASC results

The University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate, UCLES, now Cambridge Assessment, has provided further details on the West African School Certificate, WASC, results presented by Muhammadu Buhari, the candidate of the All Progressives Candidate in the February 14 presidential election.<br />
In a new post on its website, the university confirmed result grades for the examination in 1961 were issued in numbers, not letters, as suggested by critics of Mr. Buhari who have dismissed the results he presented as fabricated.<br />
According to Cambridge, “Examination results were classed in grades from 1 to 9”.<br />
“1, 2,3,4,5 & 6 indicate a Pass with Credit; 7 & 8 indicate a Pass; 9 indicate a Failure,” the school said.<br />
Results tendered by Mr. Buhari shows he had credits in English Language, Geography, Health Science, Hausa Language; failed in Mathematics and Woodwork, and had a pass in Literature in English.<br />
In its post, Cambridge said for candidates to qualify for its certificate in 1961, they needed to pass English, and not necessarily Mathematics.<br />
“To pass the School Certificate, candidates had to pass examinations in a variety of groups. It was compulsory to pass English Language, but not Maths, in order to gain the Certificate,” the university said.<br />
<br />
The details followed intense controversy over whether Mr. Buhari, a former Head of State and retired Army General, completed his secondary education.<br />
The Nigerian constitution requires any candidate running for the office of the President to have at least the Senior Secondary School Certificate or its equivalent.<br />
The ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the campaign office of President Goodluck Jonathan accuse Mr. Buhari of lacking the requisite qualification for the office of the president.<br />
Mr. Buhari, who ran for president in 2003, 2007 and 2011, repeatedly declared that copies of his academic records were with the military.<br />
The former head of state also said original copies of his credentials were lost when his house was raided when he was in detention during the administration of Ibrahim Babangida who toppled his regime.<br />
<br />
The Army at first said it had copies of Mr. Buhari’s results, but backtracked later, saying it had only a letter of recommendation from his principal at Katsina Provincial College, result grades without either the statement or certificate.<br />
In response, Mr. Buhari obtained copies of his WASC result from his former secondary school, now Government College, Katsina.<br />
After the publication of the Statement of Results, some Nigerians, including President Jonathan and the PDP, dismissed the results as forged.<br />
One of the allegations said Hausa language was not part of the Cambridge exams in 1961.<br />
Another said Mr. Buhari’s results that year were recorded in alphabets, not in letters as Mr. Buhari claimed.<br />
<br />
While Cambridge has declined to categorically confirm Mr. Buhari’s results, saying only the APC candidate could request or authorize such disclosure, the school posted a response to enquiries on the matter on their website authenticating some of the claims in Mr. Buhari’s result.<br />
The University confirmed that according to the Regulations for 1961, African Language papers, including those for Hausa, were set for the West African School Certificate.<br />
It also put the number of candidates who sat for the WASC Hausa examination in 1961 at 152.<br />
“Our records show that Hausa was set in the Northern Region in 1961,” Cambridge said.<br />

“I have reason to believe that most or should I say all of you are wondering why I have chosen to defect to the defunct APC and I must say that if I had been told that I would have to switch party some 5 years ago, I myself would have argued it.<br />

ABUJA – PRESIDENTIAL Campaign Organisation, PCO, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP,  has accused the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, General Muhammadu Buhari, rtd of committing perjury, alleging that he (Buhari) lied on oath.<br />

Addressing Journalists, the Director of Media and Publicity of the campaign Organisation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode asked Buhari, to as a matter of urgency,  throw in the towel by withdrawing from the  presidential race.<br />
<br />
The PDP campaign Organisation spokesperson  also urged him to report to the nearest police station, adding that the Armed Forces must strip him of his ranks and privileges, stressed that with the papers on ground, General Buhari who rose to the rank of a Major-General and  became a head of state, was never qualified to enlist in the Nigerian army as a commissioned Officer, adding that if he fails to report to the Police, the PDP would then hand him over to God.<br />

Femi Fani-Kayode, whose speech was titled, ” And Buhari lies on Oath, said, “Information reaching us now has shown that the presidential candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC), General Muhammadu Buhari has disclosed today in Kano at a press conference that the affidavit he swore to, in which he claimed that his credentials were in the custody of the military was not true after all.<br />

Recall that Buhari, at another press briefing Wednesday said; “I had assumed all along that all my records were in the custody of the Military Secretary of the Nigerian Army. Much to my surprise, we are now told that although a record of the result is available, there are no copies of the certificates in my personal file. This is why I formally requested my old school the Provincial Secondary School, Katsina (which is now known as Government College, Katsina) to make available the school’s copy of the result of the Cambridge/West African School Certificate. This will be made available to the press the moment this is available”.<br />
<br />
Fani-Kayode continued, “The implication of the action of this so-called “Mr Clean” is nothing but perjury and we all know that this is a grave criminal offence under our laws and constitution.<br />
<br />
“We urge Buhari and his party to do the right thing, tender an unreserved apology to the Nigerian people. He should throw in the towel and report to the nearest police station for interrogation and prosecution. Anything less than that would be an insult to the collective intelligence and integrity of the Nigerian people.”<br />
